Gathering at the Gate (GatG) is a grassroots collective enquiry into ancestral recovery for Pākehā (white-assimilated) folx in Aotearoa. We are collaborating with GatG to document the cracks, reverberations and shimmers of participants’ experiences in relation to Matike Mai - a nationwide, Indigenous-led movement for constitutional transformation to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori sovereignty. In doing so we are experimenting with a methodology that welcomes embodied and more-than-human data and analyses, particularly as it arises with and from ancestors and Papatūānuku (the earth-mother of Aotearoa).
